About me.
Abbey Porritt
(She/Her/Hers)
I am a Speech and Language Therapist and owner of Dartmoor Speech and Language Therapy.
I am a certified practising member of:
The Royal College of Speech and Language Therapy (RCSLT)
The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
The Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice (ASLTIP)
I am originally from Australia, where I began my career as a Speech and Language Therapist. For more than a decade I have worked between hospitals and the community. I now work independently alongside my NHS role in the beautiful South West.
My clinical interest areas include:
Early language development
Dysphagia (swallowing difficulties), 0-18 years
Neonates and Infant feeding (bottle feeding, breast feeding, early communication, and weaning onto solids)
Behavioural and sensory based feeding aversions
Autism, and social communication difficulties
I aim to develop evidence based functional communication skills, and to create relaxed, safe, positive mealtimes for babies, children, young people, and the wider family.
We provide services primarily in the child or young person’ home. There are many benefits of having these appointments in your own home, which is a familiar and natural environment for both communication and mealtime support. We’ll aim to use toys and resources you already own.
Appointments are available Wednesday and Thursday evenings, and Saturdays around Plymouth, Dartmoor, North Cornwall, and The South Hams including PL1-PL9 and PL21.
If you are outside of this area but would still like to work together, this may be possible with a travel supplement so please get in touch.
